Ripe

During a weekend at home, on a evening walk with my Dad during the golden hour, we stopped to admire our neighbors blueberry garden. The ripening berries were in such a wide range of mint green to dusty rose to dark fuchsia and finally into a deep plum wine. Maybe I haven't taken the time to stop and really notice the colors blueberries go through from to make them the deep purple and blue they end up being when they are finally picked and eaten.

If you haven't been able to notice from my blog design, I love the cool color palette with lots of greens and purples. With the hint of coral and raspberry, these berries have all of my favorites.  I couldn't help but share these beautiful photos I captured when the light was perfect and right before a thunderstorm hit. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do, as the indian summer approaches right before fall encroaches.  

Galaxy Rose

Well another beginning has arrived!  The start of June also brings the beginning of a new season! Summer is almost here, so I'm savoring all the cool spring breezes and crisp mornings while they last! As some of you may have noticed I took a brief hiatus from blogging to focus on my career and get settled into a new job!  So a lot of the updates I had planned for Thirsty World got put on hold!  But no longer!  Without further ado, I'll be making lots of changes and additions to Thirsty World throughout June!

Spring has Sprung!

This Saturday was so pretty outside, I didn't want to stay indoors at all!  So Vlad and I spent the early afternoon grabbing a Greek gyro for lunch and then walking through the Greensboro Arboretum.  It's almost the peak of this spring season so all the buds are finally opening into full blossoms and adding a sweet fragrance to the air.  

The Arboretum is a unique collection of blooming trees, sculpture art, and wildlife.  It's "come sit and enjoy the scenery" atmosphere makes for the perfect afternoon of leisurely strolling.  Vlad and I were both intrigued by the way they labeled every different kind of flower, shrub or tree, letting you know exactly what you're looking at.  My favorite was the Japanese Cherry Blossoms that were in full bloom with the last few buds opening.  They were so delicate with their pastel colors and silky petals. The butterflies flitted through the branches landing from one blossom to the next.  It's days like these that lifts my spirits and makes me think anything is possible in such a beautiful world.  Thank goodness spring has finally sprung!

Love Letters

Since we were in the third grade and made Valentines mailboxes so our classmates could slip in notes of friendship and puppy love, I've always loved the idea of a Valentine being something you share with people dearest to you.  While I'm not the biggest fan of Valentine's Day, I always like to create little love notes to send.  Whether its a delicately cut paper heart or a simple hand-made card, to me a Valentine is full of good thoughts and hopeful wishes.

Here are the Valentines I'm sending this year to my family.  Being a little further away, it's nice to be able to send them something they can open with a smile and know I'm thinking of them!  I hope you enjoy them too!
