80 Years of Family

This weekend I was happy to be an event photographer for Lindley's grandmother's 80th birthday party!  Her family hosted it at Table 16, located in downtown Greensboro, which was a perfect atmosphere for gathering together to celebrate!

With a handmade stand displaying various flavors of cupcakes and a selection of bite size appetizers, the food and wine added to the casual elegance of the party.  Photographs throughout the decades were scattered on the tables partnered with a "What Happened in 1933" fun fact sheet.  Her grandmother was surrounded by family and friends, including two girlfriends that she has known since the first grade!  Can you imagine being able to stay in touch with someone for almost 75 years?!

The entire afternoon was full of love and joy, as people reunited with relatives and family friends. With laughter and small talk, I felt so welcomed.  It was so nice to spend time around people who exuded kindness and good karma and who were enjoying the moment with the ones they loved the most.

Bonfire.

Recently we celebrated my college roommate and dear friend's 23rd birthday!  I couldn't go down to Charlotte for her night on the town, but for her actually birthday she had a quiet bonfire at home with her family and friends.  Of course every bonfire must also come with smores, so we spent the night roasting marshmallows and telling silly stories about the 23 years of Jessi.  It was so nice to keep warm by the fire and laugh with old friends, while Abbey, the golden retriever, held my hand all night.  I'm so glad she had a great birthday with a cozy way to start off the year!

Purple Blooms

Another gorgeous bouquet of flowers to share with you, these ones for my birthday this week!  They have been blooming for days, with the most vivid purple and are so amazing!  Spending the day with one of my closest friends, playing with bubbles and glitter (photos in the next post), then dinner at Mellow Mushroom with friends until cupcakes and cookie cake into the night.  My birthday while quiet on a Tuesday, was lovely all the same.

Easter Weekend Snapshots

Thursday night marked the 22nd year of my lovely friend and old roommate Whitney, so Clayton and I drove from Greensboro to Charlotte to celebrate with her!  Since Clayton and I are traveling souls, where ever we go together, becomes an adventure, even if the drive is only an hour.  We use every excuse possible to let the road and wind strengthen our friendship and our sense of wanderlust.
Whitney had chose to go to Luce in downtown Charlotte, which had not only creamy carbonara, but of course what I enjoy most, an amazing tiramisu!  After dinner with her family and friends, we all wandered down the next block or two, arriving at Howl at the Moon, the piano bar, and spent the rest of the evening singing along to requested songs and dancing around the table.

Easter Dinner
with my Greensboro Family

I've been looking for an excuse to have a dinner party for a while now, and since I didn't go home to Concord for Easter Sunday with my parents, I thought it was the perfect reason to clean my apartment, and decoratively arrange fruit!  I even splurged and bought a bouquet a flowers to brighten up the table!
Serving Chicken Alfredo garnished with my personally grown parsley, the meal was complete with green bean, and a fruit medley. Everyone pitched in with beverages and helpful errands, with a special thanks to my chefs (since though I try, I still haven't mastered the skill of cooking chicken) Manning and Doug, and for the excellent garlic bread from David!  It was such a pretty night we all ate on the porch with the perfect breeze and good conversation though Einstein fought Derek and Vlad for their pasta, and as a true ladies man, loved Lindley!  It was the perfect Easter away from home, sharing the evening with people who make me smile!
